Aubrey Marcus recounts an experience with iboga, a medicinal plant used in the Bwiti tradition in Gabon. Iboga is said to have been discovered by a shaman who noticed that a porcupine, after consuming the bark of a tree—later identified as iboga—provoked intense visions and revelations when it was itself eaten.

Since then, Bwiti shamans have used iboga to help individuals explore their inner selves and access profound truths.

Unlike ayahuasca, which is believed to enable a journey to other dimensions, iboga is said to allow a deeper dive within oneself, revealing personal truths without distortion.

Aubrey describes this experience as an "inner voice" that confronts fears and blockages uncompromisingly. This process is sometimes compared to a strict father, as it forces individuals to face uncomfortable truths.

Iboga is also used in detox treatments for addicts, primarily through the extraction of its main alkaloid, ibogaine. Although physically challenging, Aubrey describes an inner transformation, feeling as if he had "reset" his mind and body, as if a tuning fork had realigned his energy.

By the end of the experience, Aubrey feels revitalized and gains mental clarity. Although the experience is demanding, he asserts that it is highly beneficial for those who wish to confront their fears and overcome inner obstacles.
