Steven Moubengui’s journey with Iboga began as a young seeker, driven by an unshakable sense that life held deeper meaning. His early path was guided by shamanic teachers from various traditions, including Native American and Guatemalan lineages, strengthening his connection to the earth and ancestral wisdom—marking the beginning of his training as a healer.

A year after his first Iboga ceremony, Steven had the rare opportunity to travel to Africa with a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman, undergoing full initiation into the Bwiti tradition. Being welcomed by this intact indigenous tribe was a profound honor—one that forever shaped his life’s purpose.

Following his initiation, Steven apprenticed for nearly a year under Moughenda Mikala, a renowned 10th-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman, working alongside him at Bwiti House in Costa Rica. As one of the first Westerners to serve Iboga in the West, he fully immersed himself in Bwiti teachings, stepping into his role as a dedicated Iboga provider.

Bringing Iboga Healing to the West

Steven soon took a leading role in expanding Iboga healing to the Western world:

• Lead Provider at Iboga Wellness – The oldest Iboga retreat center in the West.
• Founder of Iboga Healing (2016) – His first Iboga center.
• Co-founder of Several Iboga Centers Worldwide.

In 2021, Steven moved to Portugal and co-founded Root Healing, where he served as the lead provider. After refining his healing approach for years, he established his Iboga Center, Portugal, creating a space dedicated to integrity, transformation, and deep healing.

A Trailblazer in Iboga Healing

Steven has been also the first person outside of Gabon granted the privilege of facilitating pre-initiation ceremonies for all genders—a traditional Bwiti Iboga ceremony connecting participants to the Bwiti tribe and their true selves on a profound spiritual level.

With over 12 years of experience, Steven is one of the most respected Iboga providers outside of Africa. His mission is simple: to guide people with care, integrity, and devotion, helping them heal, reconnect with their true self, and rediscover the truth within.
